چکیده

The increasing development of information technology has led to a higher demand for communication capacity. Moreover, the mode division multiplexing (MDM) is considered one important technologies expand optical fiber transmission capacity, and few-mode erbium-doped amplifier (FM-EDFA) main device applied loss compensation under long-haul systems. This paper reports design characterization six-mode (6M-EDFA) MDM A center-depressed with trench-assisted structure, designed adjustment relevant parameters reduce splice between (6M-EDF) fiber. results show lowest theoretically 0.293 dB. By analyzing field distribution, two erbium ion doping regions are initially identified, ring region further layered, concentration three layers optimized achieve high gain low differential modal (DMG) using genetic algorithm (GA). In case core forward pumping LP 01 at 1480 nm, simulation that average 25.7 dB DMG 0.277 obtained 1550 nm considering coupling. 6-mode system built fully verify performance meet requirements system.

Mode-division multiplexed transmission with inline few-mode fiber amplifier.

We demonstrate mode-division multiplexed WDM transmission over 50-km of few-mode fiber using the fiber's LP01 and two degenerate LP11 modes. A few-mode EDFA is used to boost the power of the output signal before a few-mode coherent receiver. A 6×6 time-domain MIMO equalizer is used to recover the transmitted data. We also experimentally characterize the 50-km few-mode fiber and the few-mode EDFA.

Few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier with photonic lantern for pump spatial mode control.

We demonstrate a few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier employing a mode-selective photonic lantern for controlling the modal content of the pump light. Amplification of six spatial modes in a 5 m long erbium-doped fiber to ∼6.2  dBm average power is obtained while maintaining high modal fidelity. Through mode-selective forward pumping of the two degenerate LP21 modes operating at 976...

Three mode Er3+ ring-doped fiber amplifier for mode-division multiplexed transmission.

We successfully fabricate three-mode erbium doped fiber with a confined Er(3+) doped ring structure and experimentally characterize the amplifier performance with a view to mode-division multiplexed (MDM) transmission. The differential modal gain was effectively mitigated by controlling the relative thickness of the ring-doped layer in the active fiber and pump launch conditions. A detailed stu...

High Gain Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers

Performance improvements by using an isolator as an amplified spontaneous emission suppressing component within erbium-doped fibers are evaluated. Simultaneous high-gain and near-quantum-limited noise figures can be obtained by such a scheme. The noise figure improves for input signal powers below -5 dBm and an improvement of 2.0 db with a simultaneous gain increase of 4.1 dB is measured relati...

Tunable gain-clamped double-pass Erbium-doped fiber amplifier.

A tunable, gain-clamped (GC) double-pass Erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) with a linear laser-cavity configuration has been demonstrated. It solves the problems existing in the conventional linear-cavity GC-EDFA based on two fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs), in which the clamped-gain is very difficult to be tuned. In the new GC-EDFA, the lasing oscillation for clamping the gain is produced in a l...
